About The Book

The Adventure of Tippy the Cat is a children’s book, written and illustrated in 1929. The story is about a cat named Tippy who lives in a house high above the steep, dramatic cliffs of the Palisades along New York’s Hudson River. One day, his curiosity gets the best of him and he runs down the cliffs, makes a new friend, and experiences an exciting adventure. Artist and craftsman, Donald D. Streeter combined his beautiful watercolor illustrations with a charming story of friendship, curiosity, adventure and the warmth of home, to capture your imagination. There are seven discussion-prompting questions at the end on the book’s jacket. When reading aloud this book with children, these questions can be used to start a discussion about the book, build a child’s reading comprehension skills, expand their vocabulary, learn colors and numbers, and stimulate their imaginations. Click on the links above and below to learn more about the authors, the discussion questions, the power of reading to children, and to purchase the book.
